Mrs. Kim’s Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Craft

This craft is a great way to take your at-home reading to the next level and make Chicka Chicka Boom Boom extra fun! Not to mention, they’ll practice learning their numbers and letters while they’re at it!

What you’ll need:

  • Toilet paper or paper towel roll

  • Green construction paper

  • Tape

  • Adhesive letters or numbers ( if you don’t have them you can make your own out of colored construction paper by just writing the letter or number and cutting around it 🅰️1️⃣ like this )

What to do:

  1. Cut out 3 or 4 green tree leaves.

  2. Have your child tape them to the top of the toilet paper or paper towel roll.

  3. Then have fun adding the letters or numbers to the tree.

Young children love repetition. These stories are great because, after a few times, they will be able to “read” along with you. After you’ve finished the craft, reinforce the sounds the letters make first and talk about other words that have the same sounds. Write the letters on post-it notes and hide them around your house, and have a scavenger hunt. You can also print out pictures of objects, all beginning with the same sound (B) and the same sound (D), and play a sorting game.

  • Blueberry

  • Baseball

  • Bumble Bee

  • Baby

  • Doughnut

  • Diamond

  • Dog

  • Dinosaur

Repeat this with different letters.

Sounds and letters are all around us! Have fun!
