What you’ll need:

  • Egg carton

  • Some strong string

  • A toilet paper or paper towel roll

  • Tape

  • A needle or something similar

What to do:

  1. Cut the top of your egg carton off.

  2. Run two pieces of strong string through your toilet paper or paper towel roll cutting them the exact same length and adjusting the length to how long you’d like your nature holder to be.

  3. Put your string through a needle and pull it through each end of the egg carton

  4. Tie each end of your string (3x should work)

  5. Once everything seems to be in balance, tape your string in place on the inside of your paper towel holder

  6. Now you can color your carton or get to hunting if you’re anxious to get outside!

The Scavenger Hunt:

We first started around our house finding anything interesting, a twig, a nut, a rock, any flowers or leaves we thought looked neat then we hit the street. We recommend you not pull flowers out of your neighbors yards (unless they give you permission) but there are PLENTY of little flowers popping up next to the street right now that are perfect for this adventure. If your child is a bit younger it may also be fun to identify and pick colors (yellow flower, purple flower, green grass, brown acorn). If your adventure is ready for it here are a few you may be on the hunt for….

1. Glory-of-the-snow

2. Buttercup

3. Grape hyacinths

4. Boxwood twig

5. Acorn

6. Cherry Blossom flowers (plenty are falling off of trees onto sidewalks right now)

7. Forsythia (these bright yellow bushes are EVERYWHERE right now)

8. Siberian squill

9. Pine cone

10. Rhododendron (these may be hard to pick if you don’t have any in your yard but they’re beautiful to look at!)

Find a yellow daffodil and dandelion and some beautiful magnolias just for fun too! You can’t miss them! They’re popping up everywhere right now!

Happy hunting!

P.S. We only have a few Easter baskets left, don’t forget to pick yours up if you haven’t already!
